The NY Times is running a piece today about the never ending march towards war on the Indian Sub Continent.  Looks like the Pakistani Intelligence Service (ISI) had a hand in helping the group suspected of launching/funding the attacks in Mumbai.  This really isn’t much of a surprise to anyone that has followed this region of the world.  Indeed the ISI was responsible for supporting the Taliban’s rise to power and triumph over the USSR with the blessing of the USA.  Don’t be surprised to hear that a ton of new US troops are being deployed into Afghanistan….  

This deployment will be less about fighting the Taliban and more about trying to prevent a Paki-Indo conflict from spiraling out of control.  My understanding is that the US has a contingency plan in place for securing the Pakistani nuclear launch sites should the situation combust…  Which scares the living shit out of me, because Pakistan would know this as well and would be more inclined to use a nuke before it is comandeered by the Americans…  Just think that through..  Pakistani nuclear 1st strike on a large India city.  A 150 kiloton bomb dropped on NYC would look something like this.  So, 830,000 dead in a city like NYC….  Mumbai is almost 3 times the size of NYC and just about as densely populated…  It would be carnage of epic proportion.  Let us all hope the day never comes.
